Terms of Use
Last updated 9 August 2026
Plain terms for a free tool. Using Zack Tax means you accept them.
The most important point. Zack Tax is a record-keeping and calculation tool. It is not a tax preparer, not a tax advisor, not a certified public accountant, and not an IRS-authorised e-file provider. It does not prepare or file tax returns on your behalf, and nothing it produces is tax, legal, or financial advice.
1. What Zack Tax is
Software that helps you record business income and expenses, organise them against IRS Schedule C categories, store your own documents on your own device, and estimate amounts using published federal tax figures.
2. What Zack Tax is not
- It does not transmit returns to the IRS or to any state. Only an authorised e-file provider may do that.
- It does not review your situation or tell you what you should do.
- It does not determine what is deductible for you, what is taxable where you operate, or which elections you should make.
- It does not calculate state or local income tax.
- It creates no professional relationship of any kind between you and us.
3. Estimates are estimates
Calculations rely on federal figures published by the IRS and the Social Security Administration, which we review periodically. Tax law changes, sometimes retroactively, and figures can be superseded after we publish.
Results depend entirely on what you enter. Incomplete or miscategorised records produce confident-looking numbers that are wrong. Verify anything material with a qualified professional before you file or pay.
4. Your responsibilities
- The accuracy and completeness of everything you enter.
- Keeping your own backups. We hold no copy and cannot recover anything.
- Meeting your filing and payment obligations, on time, whatever this tool shows.
- Securing the device your records are stored on.
- Determining your own obligations for sales tax, payroll, licensing, and state requirements.
5. No warranty
Zack Tax is provided free, as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We do not guarantee it is error-free or that it will remain available.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of Zack Tax. This includes tax underpayment or overpayment, interest, penalties, disallowed deductions, missed deadlines, lost records, lost data, or lost profits, whether or not we were advised such loss was possible.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use Zack Tax to record or facilitate anything unlawful, including the falsification of records or the evasion of tax. Do not attempt to disrupt the service or the devices of others.
8. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue Zack Tax at any time without notice. Because your records live on your device, they remain yours and readable if we do — export a backup and a CSV to keep them portable.
9. Intellectual property
The software, name, and design are ours. Everything you enter is yours; we claim no rights over it and could not access it if we wanted to.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.
11. Changes to these terms
Updated terms take effect when posted, with the date above amended. Continuing to use Zack Tax means accepting them.
